Elsewhere in Stroud – December 2015
There’s lots going on in Stroud during the festive season; here’s what we recommend…
Stroud gets into the festive spirit on 4th December at the annual Stroud Goodwill Evening. This year’s theme is space, so don’t be surprised if you see an alien or two amongst the elves! Look out for light installations, listen to the Rock Choir, get involved in crafts and enjoy a spot of late night shopping and dining. Lantern making is taking place in the week before the event, and a procession from the Subscription Rooms is scheduled for 6pm.

The St Laurence Church Christmas Tree Festival has been steadily growing in popularity and now features a preview evening on Sunday 29th November with guest presenter Steve Kitchen. The trees, all decorated by different community groups will be on display in the church and available to view until 6th December.

Keep an eye out at Stroud Bookshop for some new seasonal collections and signings by famous authors in December. Rachel Joyce (The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry) will be dropping in to sign copies of her new short story collection, The Snow Garden, and Jessie Lee will be helping the bookshop to celebrate the publication of The Village Christmas, a collection of journalistic work by Laurie Lee. There may even be another surprise visit from local author, Ian McKewan…
