20th October: Vegan Oktoberfest at the Malthouse Bar & Kitchen

Gloucestershire’s first Vegan Oktoberfest is coming to Stroud in October, celebrating all things vegan. Expect to see some familiar faces, such as Stroud Brewery, as well as new and exciting vegan producers from the south west. Stroudmalthouse.com

22nd October: Five Valleys Fireworks Display, Marling School

This well established firework and bonfire display has been running for over 50 years and has raised almost a quarter of a million pounds for local charities. The event takes place on the Marling School sports fields – book in advance for reduced prices. Fivevalleysfireworks.org.uk

20th-28th October: Half term events at Museum in the Park

There are plenty of activities to keep the children busy over half term at Stroud’s premier museum. Taking Stroud Book festival as inspiration, have a go at making a mini book, design a comic and create a fabulous drawing with guidance from experts including Stroud author Hannah Shaw. 7th-11th November: Stroud Book Festival, various venues

Discover the writing talents of local authors including famous faces such as Prue Leith, Mary Portas and Alan Johnson at this small but intimate book festival.
