Gerb’s Stroud market news Wednesday 3rd April 2019

I hope you all saw the great video of the Godsells at Church Farm in Leonard Stanley turning out their cows on our Facebook group or on Godsell’s perhaps? They describe it as the best day of the year; the cows being turned out of the barn and into the fields in the spring; all galloping about and kicking their legs out and mooing loudly. In other news Godsell’s cheese have come up with a limited-edition cheese they have, rather amusingly, named Brexit. It is a 2 year old Double Gloucester and very strong. Opinion in the cheese room was (obviously!) divided between those who liked it and those who did not. At least they have a few more weeks to sell it. Get yours this Saturday!

The Lavender Garden returns this Saturday with the early spring varieties of lavender and other herb plants. Market legend Andrew has been attending for over 15 years and is a true expert in his field. It is Tulip season too, and Julian Harvard had an outstanding display last week, with this coming Saturday set to be better still.

We have Katie Crunch Fudge back with us this Saturday after a broken wrist meant fudge making was impossible. Look out for the crystallised stem ginger fudge! Also Baked by Beth, who I wrote about last week is coming this Saturday; raw sweet treats and granola by weight. Meanwhile Seitan’s Grill, the new vegan hot food stall, has ceased trading already.
