Here at the market office we are preparing the annual mail-out for stallholders’ re-registration. In order to renew our FARMA certification for the farmers’ markets we organise, we need every stallholder who trades at the markets anytime during the year to provide up to date paperwork for their business. The inspector visits our office after going round the markets and checks that the records we hold are up to date.

Ho hum the winter doldrums are upon us. It’s cold, it’s damp and it’s horrible! Imagine what life on the farm is like now! Nevertheless the weather can’t stop the work; animals must be fed and looked after, vegetables must be harvested, fields must be prepared, early season arable crops
Let’s talk about cheese for a change shall we? Let’s flag up one of the market’s strongest points; there is a really great selection of cheese every week at the market!
After my triumphant squash roasting initiation last year I have moved this aspect of my culinary repertoire forward leaps and bounds over the last couple of months. I have had to come to terms with the fact that my lack of confidence in the roasting department was really down to a lack of adventurousness and the only way to overcome this has been through practice! Believe it or not I realised I even had a bit of a hang up about roasting potatoes, never mind roasting vegetables!
