This is the season for dining out at the market! Early summer going into late summer brings a wealth of produce from soft fruit such as sun-ripened strawberries and raspberries to juicy cherries, punchy plums and even the first of the year’s apples.
Vegetables include Mediterranean favourites, courgette, aubergine, pepper and tomatoes as well as green veg – beans, peas and broccoli. For salads, there’s a variety of beets – vibrant candy striped, gloriously golden and ruby red, as well as a selection of leaves, from spinach, lettuce and rocket to crunchy cucumber, radishes and a variety of fresh herbs.
Potatoes are in abundance, corn on the cob are coming to their best, while early autumn produce starts to creep in including leeks, squash and carrots.
You can buy fresh, seasonal produce this season from the following stalls: Coleshill Organic Farm, Duncan Paget & Co, Newark Farm and Days Cottage. Look out for the return of Over Farm Market, Hotch Potch Organics and Croft Farm.
