Ooh I’ve got one of those situations at the market this week where the number of potential bookings I have lined up for Saturday exceeds the available space I have for placing them! What that means for you, our beloved customers, is that there will be a HUGE range of stalls, all selling their own produce; what they have made, grown, reared, prepared and baked themselves.

Big announcement number 1; this is the LAST WEEK that Faithfull’s Quality baking will be at the market before Christmas, so if you intend to purchase your Christmas cake from them it has to be this Saturday. Big announcement number 2; this is also the LAST WEEK that the Pitchcombe Christmas Tree man (3 miles away!) will be at the market. As last Saturday his sales were quieter than expected he is predicting a rush this Saturday, so if you want a truly local Christmas tree in your house this year I would suggest getting to market in good time. Big announcement number 3; the following stalls will be at the market this week but WON’T BE THERE AGAIN this side of Christmas; Ann Sohn-Rethel ceramics; Cotswold Handmade Soap; Donnington Trout Farm; Fair and Square Chocolate Brownies; Glastonbury Dairies cheeses; Stainswick Farm Rapeseed Oils; The Veggie Deli; Wil’s Smokehouse nuts, seeds, sea salt etc, all smoked; Woodchester Cabinet makers’ breadboards and Dan Hides spotty pottery.

There is no 4th Saturday market this month so those attending this Saturday who would normally do the 4th are mostly attending the EXTRA farmers market on Tuesday the 23rd, which is also the market earmarked for Christmas order collection. Some are unable to attend the Tuesday and are attending the Stroud Christmas markets. So, Herbs for healing, Ascott gardens, Stroud brewery, Horton’s bees and Trees, White Lake Cheeses and The Old Cheese Room will all be featuring on Tuesday the 23rd, whilst Trealy Farm Charcuterie will be attending the Christmas Market on Friday the 19th.
